Carnatic vocal music and Mridangam
classes were started with twice a week classes in September
1997 and the first Music competitions in Vocal and Mridangam
were organized in Sept 1998-first Annual Day of VFAS.
Looking to the growing interest of
music lovers as well as students in Vashi and its immediate
surroundings, the informal Music classes was converted into
a VFAS Sangeetha Vidyalaya, thanks to the untiring efforts
of Shri Kallidaikurichi M Sankaranarayana Bhagavathar. Initially
classes for Carnatic vocal were conducted which sooner paved
way for starting of Carnatic Violin, Harmonium and Mridangam
classes as well. This was followed by Hindustani style of
music where both Hindustani Vocal and Violin students came
in good numbers and also Guitar & Key board classes was added
subsequently. However, due to obvious reasons VFAS Sangeetha
Vidyalaya is currently conducting only Carnatic Vocal classes
and the details, fee structure etc are given in the annexure
attached hereto.. Click
